When we were kids my mum would insist that as soon as we were tucked up in bed, we took a moment to think about how lucky we were to have a warm and comfortable place to sleep. It’s a practice I continue to this day and I am a firm believer that a bedroom should be a sacred space where great care and attention is paid to making it conducive to rest and sleep. I am forever saying to 2 out of 4 of my kids “you will sleep better if your room is clean!”

For some (including me), sleep can still be elusive no matter how warm, clean and comfortable the space. For me it seems that any worries I might have come to the front of my mind in the darkness, and then getting back to sleep is impossible - until recently that is!

Not long ago I was sent some products to try from Ancien and amongst them was “O’Sleep O’Gentle Sleep – a pillow spray formulated from pure essential oils to assist with insomnia and in times of stress. I was intrigued because sleep has been a problem for me for the longest time. The spray is a blend of Lavender, Vetiver, Mandarin and chamomile pure essential oils formulated to calm the mind and help you into a deep sleeping state. Can I say, that of all the products I’ve tried (and trust me there are a few), this is one that really truly works. It lives on my bedside table and if I wake at night, I reach for it, spray it on my pillow and I swear I am asleep in moments!

Recently I gave some to my beautiful friend Claire who is undergoing chemo therapy. She is tired, sleepy and napping in the day which leads to difficulty sleeping through the night. O’Sleep O’Gentle Sleep is now also part of her nightly ritual. To give a gift which is actually helpful to someone experiencing a really stressful time, is a pretty fantastic feeling.
