Have you heard of Status Anxiety?

Have you heard of Status Anxiety?

It is the social condition caused by comparing ourselves to those around us. We’re all familiar with the questions “where do you live?”, “what do you do?” even our favourite - “what school did you go to?"

Status Anxiety is anxiety caused by measuring how we're doing in terms of other people’s perceptions of success such as possessions, looks, and income and this Status Anxiety can cause us to make decisions with our time and money that compromise what we really value in order to be successful.

The brand Status Anxiety, proudly founded in Sydney’s Shire, is all about worrying less about the perceptions of others, not taking ourselves too seriously and reassessing real value in all areas of our lives. The brand is for a life lived simply, with a greater appreciation for things that last rather than the latest fashion fad.

Every Status Anxiety piece is handcrafted in inherently awesome, ethically sourced, prodominantly Italian and Brazilian leather.

Browse our range of bags and wallets and rest assured that the quality of these pieces is truly incredible. Our customers LOVE Status Anxiety. Touch and feel these beautiful products and find out why.

Contain Yourself- The Art of Keeping It Together

By now you have probably heard of Marie Kondo and her “Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up”. Ms Kondo tells us to first, put your hands on everything you own, ask yourself if it sparks joy? and if it doesn’t, thank it for its service and get rid of it.

Simple and liberating advice. Just 2 steps, but the question remains – how to effectively and attractively display or contain those items which do spark joy. One solution we love at Zjoosh is to contain those treasured pieces using trays.

I love to use large rattan trays on coffee tables. Items such as plants, decorative boxes, coasters and books can be neatly corralled rather than strewn. The added bonus of using a tray being that if you want to clear off the surface to use it for playing a game or serving food, your styled vignette can be lifted and taken away in seconds and replaced with ease when the party is over.

Our small marble trays make perfect containers for hand soap and hand cream at the kitchen sink or in bathrooms. With so many beautifully packaged hand and body products, it’s nice to put them on display. It makes washing your hands and moisturising afterwards less of a chore and more of a treat. Joy sparks flying Ms Kondo!!

Beautiful perfume bottles with their iconic branding by luxury design houses such as Chanel, Chloe and Dior definately spark joy for me. Place these luxury items on display in your bathroom using one of our beautiful marble, rattan or stainless steel mirrored trays. Bring luxury out of drawers and cupboards and arrange them beautifully to remind yourself to treat every day as special occasion by dabbing on a little fragrance just because.

Trays are handy for entryways and hall tables. A dedicated place to put keys and sunglasses as you enter your home. A photo in a frame, a small decorative box and the addition of a natural element such as coral, a potted plant or freshly cut flowers can bring life to an otherwise mundane collection of items.

Turn an empty surface in your living room into the life of the party by creating a little drinks station on a tray. Place crystal tumblers, marble coasters and decanters alongside attractive bottles. Again make the most of the many stunning drinks packaging designs available. Perhaps add a some bottles of wine or mineral waters with especially pretty labels. Art is absolutely everywhere. Add a bowl of fresh lemons, a crystal bucket filled with ice and a vase of mint. Voila! The bar is open!!

By using trays to decorate, the look you create in your home will be styled and intentional. Your items will appear far more interesting (not to mention orderly) than items scattered randomly. Take some time to experiment. Mix and match using different heights and textures and place those items which spark the most joy in places where you will see them and appreciate them for what they mean to you.

More than just good looks - Chic Accessories Working Overtime

With busy lives in mind, we have created some beautiful chic accessories that are far from being “just a pretty face”.

Our Ashton clutch is no snooze when it comes to functionality. This girl doubles as a cross body bag as well as a shoulder bag with her cute short gold chain. Both strap and chain are detatchable, so the Ashton can also be used simply as a clutch. As if all this versatility were not enough, slots inside for 8 cards and a pocket to slip your phone in, means you can leave your wallet at home if you choose.

Likewise the Hugo Cross Body has remarkable functionality. He’s a clutch with a handy wristlet one minute, and a practical, elegant cross body bag the next. Once again, credit card slots inside mean you can leave your wallet at home if you choose and an external zipper compartment keeps your phone and keys secure.

I’m not a one bag girl. I switch from large tote, to cross body bag to small clutch all in a day. For me that means a larger wallet just won’t work. It won’t fit into the smaller clutch style bags I prefer and even when it does, it means there’s no room left for sunglasses, lipstick or keys. I also find that the larger the wallet, the greater my compulsion to gather things to put inside it! Pretty cards from favourite restaurants, receipts, foreign currency and loyalty cards from every retailer I frequent. All things which I rarely take out to look at again but which leave my wallet bursting to the point of being unable to close properly. Enter the Ella Wallet.

Super slim-lined with spaces for everything you need but absolutely nothing more. I love it because it keeps me disciplined. I can see my cards and license at a glance. There’s a smaller zipper compartment for a few coins and 2 separate spots for notes. No room for storing and hoarding. Keeping it simple is the golden rule with this girl.

Create Your Own Interior Jungle

While freshly cut flowers make a beautiful addition to any living space, indoor plants are often a more cost effective and equally attractive choice. What’s more is there’s no smelly water to change nor the inevitable sorrowful sight of wilting blooms.

It’s unusual to get more than a week or 2 out of a fresh floral bouquet, but with a bit of luck a potted Orchid or Peace Lily can really be the gift that keeps on giving for years to come.

I love the appearance of glossy green foliage, not to mention the promise of new orchid buds, but in addition to the visual benefits of beautiful foliage, there is much written about the positive psychological effects of keeping indoor plants.

Plants are known to reduce stress, and for me this is real. I really enjoy tending to and nurturing something so that it remains alive and healthy. Watering and feeding plants can be quite therapeutic as it provides a real sense of purpose, not to mention the huge reward when new shoots or buds appear! Tending to the plants is part of my day. A slow almost meditative activity best enjoyed with a cup of tea in my hand before anyone else wakes up.

Studies have actually shown that indoor plants improve mood, productivity, creativity and concentration. Not only that, houseplants remove toxins from the air and regulate humidity. Hospital patients with plants in their rooms, or who look out to gardens have been shown to recover more quickly, so the gift of a plant to someone who is feeling sad or not well is a really thoughtful gesture.

At Zjoosh our ceramic, rattan and marble vessels make perfect holders for your living houseplant friends. Group plants together on trays to create your own interior jungle. Not everyone has time to tend to an outdoor garden, but a natural indoor sanctuary on a smaller scale is really quite manageable. By grouping plants together, watering schedules are much easier to keep track of.

House plants turn a room into an actual living space by breathing real life into a home. They signify that someone takes the trouble to care for things. That this is an important place people actually enjoy living in.

Create timeless, elegant interior spaces with marble

Marble has been used in art and architecture since ancient times. It's smooth, beautiful, strong and every piece is unique. Marble in timeless, classic and incredibly versatile. No matter what your decorating style, marble works beautifully. Being a natural material, marble can work in the "earthiest" homes as well as more natural settings.

Marble is an interior decorating chameleon. Pair with black and gold and it becomes incredibly sophisticated and “high end” looking. Place it alongside soft pink peonies and Mongolian lambskin cushions and it appears warm, soft and inviting.

Our marble accent pieces work beautifully with both pale timber, mid-toned and darker woods. Often used for counter tops in kitchens and bathrooms, marble is right at home in either of these locations. Use our marble trays to contain pretty perfume bottles and cosmetics or hand soap and hand lotion in the kitchen. You will see we have sized these to accommodate these items perfectly.

Handbags Which Work Over Time - Guitar Strap Cool

One of our favourite trends happening right now is handbags with “guitar straps”. We dipped our toe in these waters last season with our navy Baby Ruby with her chain and PU strap, plus cool bonus navy and white webbing guitar strap. She sold out in 2 weeks and you told us how you wished the larger version also had a guitar strap.

As you know, our brand is based on a “neighbourhood” model. Our customers visit us on average fortnightly and often weekly. Our Zjoosh Women really do communicate with customers and listen to their feedback on all sorts of ideas they’d love to see in our stores and, in lots of cases, their wish is our command! It’s a collaborative approach which has been working for us and our customers for many years and so, on that basis, the Ruby Sports Cross Body Bag with her effortlessly cool interchangeable webbing guitar strap was born!

Casting aside your classic strap for a wide striped webbing guitar strap has the same effect as switching out your heels for some cool leather sneakers. Suddenly you feel more casual and comfortable and, well, a little bit more rock ‘n roll.

We’ve also applied this popular cool sporty vibe to our gorgeous Rebecca Tote which borrows the same striking, striped webbing accent from the Ruby Sports Cross Body. You will fit absolutely everything from a laptop, books, or gym gear into this girl. With her secure zipper closure, the Rebecca Tote will carry everything you need from A to B safely and stylishly.
