How to Care — Homeware
From dish cloths to tea towels and table linens, cotton homewares are made to be used. A little care keeps them fresh, absorbent and looking their best wash after wash.

Step by Step
Always wash new cotton homewares before using them. This removes any finishing agents from manufacturing and pre-shrinks the fabric so it holds its shape and size going forward.
Wash dish cloths and kitchen linens separately from bathroom towels and general laundry. Keep whites separate from colours to prevent dye transfer, especially when washing new items for the first time.
Kitchen cloths and dish towels can be washed at up to 60°C to remove bacteria and grease effectively. Decorative table linens and more delicate cotton pieces do better at 30–40°C to preserve colour and structure.
Remove from the machine as soon as the cycle ends and shake out before hanging or tumble drying. Leaving damp cotton sitting in a pile encourages mildew and musty odours.
For a crisp finish on tea towels and table linens, iron on a medium-to-high heat while the fabric is still slightly damp. This makes the job easier and gives a much cleaner result.

A Note on Longevity
Cotton homewares only get better with use. The more you wash a good quality dish cloth or tea towel, the softer and more absorbent it becomes. Buy well, care for it properly, and it will serve you for years.
