How to Care — Knitwear

Care For Your
Knitwear

Our knitwear is crafted from fine natural fibres including cotton-cashmere and wool-cashmere blends. Each piece deserves a gentle touch — wash with care, dry flat, and your knit will stay soft and beautiful wear after wear.

Step by Step

Washing Your Knitwear

1
Check the care label first

Always check the individual garment label before washing. Cotton-cashmere blends may tolerate a gentle machine cycle, while wool-cashmere blends are best handled by hand.

2
Hand wash in cold water

Fill a basin with cold water and add a small amount of gentle wool or knitwear wash. Submerge and softly squeeze the garment — never rub, twist, or wring the fabric.

3
Rinse & press out water

Rinse thoroughly with cold water. To remove excess water, gently press the garment against the basin — never wring. Support the full weight of the piece as you lift it out.

4
Dry flat & reshape

Lay the garment flat on a clean towel and reshape gently while damp. Leave to dry naturally away from direct sunlight or heat. Never hang knitwear to dry — it will stretch.

5
Treat pilling with care

Some pilling is natural with blended knits and is not a flaw. Use a fabric comb or lint shaver on a low setting to gently remove pills and restore the surface texture.

Quick Guide

Do’s & Don’ts

Washing Hand wash in cold water where possible. For cotton-cashmere blends, a gentle machine cycle on cold is usually fine.
Drying Always dry flat on a towel. Reshape while still damp to maintain the original fit and silhouette.
Storage Fold knitwear flat and store in a drawer or on a shelf. Use cedar or lavender to naturally deter moths.
Airing Air your knitwear between wears rather than washing after every use. This extends the life of the fibres significantly.
Tumble dryer Never tumble dry knitwear. Heat causes natural fibres to shrink, felt, and lose their softness permanently.
Hanging Never hang knitwear on a hanger — the weight of the fabric causes it to stretch and distort at the shoulders.
Hot water Avoid warm or hot water at all times. Even a small temperature increase can cause irreversible shrinkage in natural fibres.
Rough handling Never rub, wring, or scrub knitwear. Agitation weakens the fibres and causes pilling and distortion over time.

A Note on Longevity

A well-cared-for knit only gets better with time. Wash it gently, dry it flat, and store it folded — the natural fibres will soften beautifully with every wear and reward you with lasting comfort season after season.
