Step by Step

Care For Your Silk

1
Check the care label first

Always read the individual garment label. Silk pieces are dry clean only. When in doubt, opt for dry cleaning or spot treatment rather than a full wash.

2
Professional dry clean only

To maintain the integrity and luster of the silk fibers, this garment should only be professionally dry cleaned. Silk is sensitive to water and household detergents; professional cleaning ensures the fabric remains supple and the colors stay vibrant.

3
Spot treatment caution

Avoid attempting to spot-clean stains at home with water or soap, as this can cause permanent water rings or fiber distortion. Instead, point out specific stains to your professional dry cleaner so they can apply the appropriate specialized treatment.

4
Proper storage

When not in use, store your garment in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Use a padded hanger to maintain the garment’s shape and avoid sharp creases. For long-term storage, breathable cotton garment bags are recommended over plastic.

5
Finishing and steaming

If the garment becomes wrinkled, do not use a standard household iron on high heat. Use a professional-grade steamer on a low setting, keeping the nozzle a safe distance from the fabric. For the best results, have your dry cleaner press the garment professionally.

Quick Guide

Do’s & Don’ts

Professional cleaning Dry clean only to maintain the fabric’s premium finish and lustre.
Steaming Use a low-heat steamer to safely refresh the natural drape.
Prep first Apply perfume and hairspray before dressing to prevent staining.
Storage Use padded hangers and store in a cool, dark environment.
Machine washing Never machine wash silk. Even a delicate cycle creates too much agitation and friction, weakening the fine fibres and dulling the lustre permanently.
Tumble dryer Never tumble dry silk. Heat causes the fibres to shrink, stiffen, and lose the fluid drape that defines the fabric.
Bleach or harsh detergents Avoid bleach, enzyme-based detergents, or any product not designed for delicates. These strip the natural protein structure of silk fibres.
Wringing or rubbing Never wring, twist, or scrub silk at any stage. Wet silk is especially fragile — rough handling will distort the weave and damage the surface sheen.

A Note on Longevity

Silk rewards patience and a gentle hand. Wash it rarely, handle it softly, and keep it from prolonged sun — and it will reward you with a lustre and drape that only deepens and refines with time.
